In accordance with Education Queensland's, United in our Pursuit of Excellence agenda, we provide a learning environment that ensures that
'Every day, in every classroom, every student is learning and achieving'
The Dimensions of teaching and learning (DOTOL) forms the basis of teachers’ professional practice when planning and enacting the curriculum to ensure that it meets the learning needs of the diverse range of students in their class.
We are strongly committed to the Darling Downs South West Region Charter of Expectations for achievement standards. Our teachers experience ongoing professional development in the 16 Elements of explicit teaching based on the research of Archer and Hughes which forms the structure for lessons.
Core to our teaching and learning are the following six principles:
Student-centred planning.
High expectations.
Alignment of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment.
Evidence-based decision making.
Safe, supportive, connected and inclusive learning environment.
Targeted and scaffolded instruction.
Our Pedagogical framework describes the teaching and learning process at Warwick West State School in further detail.
